Pride and the Prejudice and Zombies [Movie]

This movie will be coming out February 5, 2016 and it’s based on the novel Pride and the Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith. Since zombies are the main attraction in the supernatural world right now, this is the perfect time for this movie to come out. Granted, I haven’t read the book yet, however it’s always bittersweet when a novel is translated onto the big screen. To be quite candid this movie only interest me because my favorite Doctor, Matt Smith, is in it and will be the only reason I’ll venture into the theaters to see it.

Based off the trailer this movie looks…terrible. It appears cheap and seriously low-budget in the worst possible ways, and the acting looks painful, but I always give things a chance. It could turn out to be amazing, but my expectations are low. If you’ve never read Pride and the Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith (like me) and you’re wondering what it’s about, here’s the blurb:

As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she’s soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers—and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield. Can Elizabeth vanquish the spawn of Satan? And overcome the social prejudices of the class-conscious landed gentry? Complete with romance, heartbreak, swordfights, cannibalism, and thousands of rotting corpses, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies transforms a masterpiece of world literature into something you’d actually want to read

It definitely sounds like an intriguing spin on one of my favorite Austen novels, and who doesn’t like zombies?! I suggest you read the book first, as I always do with movies, because sometimes the movie can change everything about the book (Silver Linings Playbook, Jumper, etc.) It’s interesting though because I don’t believe the same with television shows…but just remember:
