Excellent book. Better than the movie although they did a good job with the movie. The setting is not far from where I grew up so that made it even more interesting for me.
That must be awesome – to read descriptions and know exactly what the author is referring to. But I’m glad the book is better, although the movie was done well.
I saw the movie before reading the book, and I too thought I’d have to prepare myself for the year jerker pull too. But I’m glad I read this. There’s more detail of the family, and the timeline is different.
Oooh, I wanted to get more of the family, so that will be a pleasant (is that a good word for a book like this) difference to explore. I know it’s sad, but I’m excited to read this, especially since so many people enjoyed it.
This is another one where I just watched the movie- I think the book would have probably been better, but it wasn’t a terrible film
It’s just so sad. I had to watch The Office after it went off to cheer myself up. But I’m hoping the book clears some stuff up for me too.
Yeah I sobbed in this movie. And they did the creepy guy well as well. But you’re right, some things could’ve been clearer
I leaked some tears too, it was the ending that got me! Oh yeah, that guy was soo creepy on a certain level I was OMG why would ANYONE trust him. Hit fit the Perv 101 profile
I read the book a long time ago, and I don’t remember much, but there were some significant differences between the movie and book. I still loved the movie. Really depressing though.
It’s really depressing! Is the ending the same? I’m hoping you say no 😦 Please say that’s the significant difference. But I’m glad I know there are important differences between the two, I’ll be looking for them.
You’ll have to read the book to find out ;). The biggest changes are really all the things that lead up to the story. And if I remember correctly, the book was more centered on her family. It’s been awhile though.
Haha, NO! Now, I have to rush and read it. But I actually think that will be a better book than the sort of Limbo-mystery world they created in the movie. I wonder why they did it that way…
